4 Podcasts That Will Actually Help Your Relationships And Sex Life

Confession: I probably log more hours listening to podcasts than I do watching television. I’m also a bit of an aficionado when it comes specifically to sex, love and relationship podcasts. Not only are they a great way to learn new relationship skills that are useful inside and outside of the bedroom, but—hello, multi-tasking!—you don't even need to make time for them. Just hit download and listen while you walk or drive (they make traffic so much better). Here are four of my personal faves.

Loveline

Loveline: It’s the original and it’s legendary. A nationally syndicated radio show since 1983, it’s now a free podcast (it was previously available behind a pay wall). Hosted by Dr. Drew and “Psycho” Mike Catherwood, the podcast is a replay of the previous night’s radio show and is mostly commercial-free. I occasionally listen to the show on the actual radio if I happen to be driving when it’s on, but no commercials make the whole thing so much better.

Loveline is incredibly informational, especially when it comes to medical stuff like STDs and how our bodies work. More than that, it's also really funny, thanks to the humor of Mike and, of course, callers asking hilarious questions and telling ridiculous stories. But the humor is balanced out with heavy, but compelling calls about addiction or emotional problems. If you listen to it long enough, you can get an incredible education about human sexuality. Seriously, Dr. Drew is the man!

Sex With Emily

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, for everything strictly sex, I cannot recommend Sex With Emily enough. The host, Dr. Emily Morse—who you might remember from Bravo’s Miss Advised—isn’t afraid to talk about, well, anything. Recent topics include "How To Master Bedroom Basics," "Spitting/Swallowing," "Random Acts of Masturbation" and "How To Make Her Moan With Joanna Angel." Speaking of Joanna Angel, Emily has lots of special guests, including porn stars galore and public figures like Dennis Hof (owner of The Moonlite Bunny Ranch) and writer Anna David (who has her own podcast about addiction that's worth checking out).

Emily gives tips and tricks, and her frank yet un-intimidating conversations will give you ideas about how to improve your sex life in a fun and safe way.

Seven Minutes In Heaven With Kira Sabin

I can’t get enough of Kira Sabin, a life coach who works with singles and is a unicorn among women, nay, humanity: positive, honest and real. Kira unabashedly believes in love and that we can all find it—and for good measure, she also uses the word “fuck” a lot in a completely adorable way. "Seven Minutes In Heaven" is the perfect podcast for the ADD crowd; and at only 420 seconds long (OK, I know that was sort of implied), Kira packs in a whole lot of information. If you are single, and even if you aren’t, you can find lots to take away. Topics include "Why You Are Not Dating Great Guys," "Stop Waiting For Someone To Complete You," "Want Love? Give Yourself A Fucking Break," "Start From The Ending" (a must listen—seriously, it’s life changing) and "Guess What? You Probably Suck At Relationships."

Guess what? If you listen to the brilliant Kira Sabin, you probably will suck way less at relationships.

Sex Nerd Sandra

I recently discovered Sex Nerd Sandra, part of the Nerdist Network started by Chris Hardwick. The show’s slogan is “Endlessly Curious. Always Sex Positive.” And that it is. Sandra Daugherty, who is a sex educator, hosts the show; outside of the podcast, she also does sex workshops and personal coaching. As an added bonus, she invites lots of cool guests on, like Marc Maron, James Deen and Jackie Kashian. Episodes include "Oral Sex: Snatch Attack," "G-Spot TMI" and "Handjobs For Everyone."

Doesn’t that sound exciting?
